Two wooden kitchens bite the dust! This month I finished two kitchens using Tikkurila Helmi 30 – a lovely rich white. Tikkurila are a Nordic company who develop high quality sustainable paints. The rooms were considerably lighter and brighter after their makeover!
Complete kitchen makeover
I carried out this work in Stirling a few weeks ago. The client also had tiling and decorating carried out to complete the transformation. Quite a different style of kitchen to my usual jobs, a real transformation on this one. The colours are a match to ‘Purbeck Stone’ & ‘Railings’ from Farrow & Ball. New brass handles were also fitted.
I was in Edinburgh this week, working locally for the first time in a while. My clients wanted to keep some of the wood in their kitchen, but also wanted to brighten the room up. I suggested painting the ceiling, doors and drawer fronts, which really transformed the room. Here are some before and after photos.

Country Kitchen – Step by Step
Sometimes the fact I need to travel over an hour each day to work is a privilege when the view from your workplace is like this. This 7 year old kitchen was in reasonably good condition, although the colour was no longer to my clients taste. All the ironmongery was removed and cleaned of any previous paint. The previous paint …
Summer pink
Just finished this nice little kitchen in West Lothian. Its a foil wrapped kitchen, with cornice and lighting pelmet removed. It was prepared and painted in white, then the wall cabinets with the base cabinets were finished in Farrow&ball Middleton pink. The knobs and draw pulls are brand new brushed copper and the worktops are going to be updated.
Back Again!
This kitchen in Stirling and is overlooked by the monument and has some beautiful views, no wonder we are so happy to go back for the third time! When Ian started painting kitchens full time (around 11 years ago) this was one of the very first ones that he painted. The client asked Ian back about 6 years ago to …
Melamine Kitchen
This is a 10 year old “standard” melamine kitchen. We were recommended to the client by her friends who had had us in to paint their kitchen. She loved the idea of being able to brighten the room without the cost of a whole new kitchen. As this was melamine it is not able to be sanded, so after a …
Less Is More
Our client inherited this kitchen when they bought this prestigious house in Edinburgh. Although a very well made kitchen the previous painters hadn’t taken as much time or care over it as you might have expected or indeed should have. As you can see from the pictures the previous painter had even painted the hinges! And although they had done a …
A bit of a change
This one was a bit of a change from our regular colours and we love it. This existing kitchen was factory painted, so as usual there is no need for us to take the doors to our workshop. All the doors were removed and worked on on-site with the help of our new rack. The whole kitchen was given a …
