The kitchen we inherited when we bought our house was good quality but not our style. It was still in good condition even though 14 years old so we couldn’t justify the expense, or the waste, of replacing it. Instead we got Ian (and John) in to hand-paint it using F&B Wimborne White and also changed the handles. What a transformation! It now looks fresh and modern rather than old and dated. "My shaker style kitchen had cream coloured melamine doors which I wanted to modernise with paint and new handles. I managed to find Ian Merriman through searching the internet and have never looked back. Ian explained to me that melamine might not last the same as wooden doors but would still look good. "Having lived in our house since it was built some 14 years ago we have lived with the same kitchen for all of that time and had thought to replace it. However having seen Ian's work we realised that painting would breath new life into what is a quality kitchen. The work took from Monday to Friday and there was very little inconvenience to the running of the house. Most of the work being done off site in Ian's workshop. The end result - we are absolutely delighted - it's like a new kitchen but at a fraction of the cost. "We inherited a rather large but gloomy kitchen when we moved to Balerno. We consulted Ian and he confirmed that the units were of good quality and could be painted successfully. He offered many different paint effects but we opted for a classic painted look using very subtle Farrow & Ball paint colours. The pressure was on as Christmas was looming and Ian had to work fast, as we were also getting joinery work done in the kitchen. Ian first of all removed all the doors for painting in his workshop and then proceeded to paint the carcasses as well as 42 door handles! . However this did not phase him and the end result exceeded our expectations. We now have a beautiful, hand painted kitchen worthy of a designer price tag but costing a mere fraction of that. We also have the option in a few years time of creating a totally different look should we wish. Ian is a friendly, open character and his workmanship is first class.
