This kitchen was a bespoke build for a beautiful house in the Newington area of Edinburgh. It was designed and built by an Edinburgh based company. This was a major refurbishment of the unused basement area to create a stunning kitchen for this young family. I was commissioned to hand paint the new cabinetry, the base coats were applied off …
Winter Colour Pop! Hand painted kitchen units and furniture
An interesting use of colours on this kitchen. My client was looking to have a change from the high gloss black cabinets, as they were tired of trying to keep them clean of finger prints. They decided to keep the natural oak cabinets to contrast with the new colours. This was an interesting project to be involved in. Here is …
Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year
All the best to all my clients for the festive season!
Hand painting a bespoke kitchen
This is a recent kitchen I painted in a smart New Town flat in Edinburgh. The design work that has gone into this small space is incredibly well executed. Bespoke furniture by Robert Kenyon at https://www.oakwoodmills.co.uk/. The colour is from Farrow&ball ‘Preference Red’ a bold colour choice but it certainly works.
Another repainted Clive Christian kitchen
I’ve been busy painting yet another Clive Christian kitchen.. my 4th one in the last few months. My clients wanted a much fresher look to their kitchen, to go with the floor which has changed from black ceramic tiles to new limed oak. There’s a lot of detailed work involved in these cabinets, particularly when it’s a change of colour. …
Repairing a ceramic lamp and painting a wooden cabinet
A bit of a different job for me.. a client asked if I could repair the base of a heavy ceramic lamp. As you can see from the photos there was quite a bit of damage. While I was there, I painted a wooden cabinet which also belongs to the same client, Ceramic Lamp – After the repair Ceramic Lamp …
Updating a kitchen with contemporary style & colour
This dated Clive Christian kitchen was in very good condition. However, the owner wanted a modern new look. They asked if anything could be done to the corner pilasters. I suggested removing them entirely, they asked their joiner to carry out this work however, he said he was unable to remove them, so it was down to me! The spindles …
Heavily distressed Chalon kitchen
After alot of preparation and sanding out the original heavily distressed and painted Chalon kitchen, I have finally finished repainting it. I pretty well matched the original colours but my client didn’t want the same level of distressing. It hadn’t been touched since it was installed 25 years ago. I’ve included some photos of the level of sanding required. The …
Rescuing a badly painted kitchen: back to basics
Yet another kitchen that I painted five years ago. The client asked me to change the colour three years later and at the time I was so busy that the client decided to use someone else. Two years on, the client contacted me again to ask if I could change the colour again as the paint the last company put …
Third coat of paint for this kitchen over 14 years!
Great start to this year. I first painted this kitchen when it was newly fitted 14 years ago, I then gave it a maintenance coat 7 years later in the original colour. My client contacted me a few months ago to ask me to repaint it in a new colour they decided on Farrow&Ball ‘Inchyra Blue’. A lovely way to …
